Who operates this website

Pragmatic Cybersecurity is operated by Carlos Morales, Canada. For privacy questions or requests, email privacy@pragmaticsecurity.ca.

Hosting and website operation

This website uses WordPress and Hostinger. Hosting services process technical information such as IP addresses, requested pages, browser information and request times to deliver the website, maintain it and protect it from misuse.

The hosting account currently lists its server in Massachusetts, United States, and its backup location in Boston, United States. Daily automated backups are enabled. Backups may include information stored in the website and its database. See Hostinger’s privacy information.

Visitor statistics and cookie choices

With your permission, this website uses Jetpack Stats, provided by Automattic, to understand visits. Automattic describes processing information including IP address, browser, pages visited, referring pages, event times and country.

The cookie banner lets you Accept optional, Reject optional or View preferences. Optional statistics remain off unless you accept them. You can change or withdraw your choice using Cookie settings. Withdrawal applies to future collection and does not undo information already processed.

Essential consent cookies remember and communicate your choices. Complianz consent cookies have an observed expiry of one year; WP Consent API consent cookies expire after 30 days. Your choices apply to the browser and device where you make them.

Automattic documents a 28-day retention period for identifying Jetpack Stats logs. This period does not apply to hosting logs, backups, correspondence or subscriber records. See Jetpack Stats information.

Email subscriptions and comments

Jetpack provides email-subscription features. If you subscribe, Automattic processes your email address and subscription details to deliver requested updates. It also processes technical information for abuse prevention. Subscription confirmation may involve a WordPress.com account.

Signups through Jetpack’s Subscribe block receive a confirmation email. Other subscription methods, including imports, may work differently. Subscription emails provide unsubscribe or subscription-management options.

Where comment or comment-subscription features are available, information you submit may be processed to display and manage the discussion or deliver requested notifications. Comments and public identity information may be visible to other visitors.

See Jetpack subscription information, Jetpack Comments information and Automattic’s visitor privacy notice.

Privacy correspondence and retention

If you contact the privacy email, your address and the information you provide are used to respond to your request. Please avoid sending passwords or unnecessary sensitive information.

Retention depends on the information and its purpose. Subscription information supports requested updates and subscription preferences. Technical logs support operation, security and troubleshooting. Backup copies support recovery. Providers manage their own retention and deletion processes, so removing information from the active website may not immediately remove every backup or provider copy.

You can contact the privacy email to ask about retention or request access, correction, deletion or withdrawal where applicable. Applicable legal obligations and unresolved disputes may affect what can be removed.

Processing outside Canada

Information may be processed outside Canada, including through the U.S. hosting and backup locations described above and Automattic’s services. Information processed abroad may be accessible to courts, law-enforcement or national-security authorities under local law.
